Our Story
March 2024 – A New Beginning
EAP Engineering was founded by Martin Pratchett. He wanted to create an engineering consultancy with a difference. Martin, a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), recognised the need for a consultancy that prioritised relationships, trust, and practical solutions tailored specifically to New Zealand’s unique building environment. His extensive industry experience and passion for residential structural design laid the groundwork for EAP Engineering’s early success.
January 2025 – Strengthening the Team
Nick Calvert joined EAP Engineering, bringing over 23 years of structural engineering expertise from the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Seeing an opportunity to expand and deepen the firm’s capabilities, Nick brought specialised experience in industrial and commercial structures, including significant design work for food processing and storage facilities. His collaborative approach and commitment to buildability perfectly complemented Martin’s vision.
2025 – Growth and Collaboration
With Martin and Nick at the helm, EAP are quickly establishing a reputation for delivering innovative, reliable solutions. Nick’s expertise with large-scale industrial projects, such as the Synlait Dunsandel Drystore 4 and various meat and cheese processing plants, significantly expanded the firm’s reach. Meanwhile, Martin continues his active role in advancing engineering practices across New Zealand, contributing to initiatives and industry standards through Engineering New Zealand.
Today – Making a Difference
EAP Engineering continues to thrive, driven by the collaborative energy and shared vision of its founders. Martin and Nick remain dedicated to building strong client relationships, providing exceptional structural solutions, and positively impacting the engineering community throughout New Zealand. At EAP, engineering isn’t just about buildings—it’s about people, communities, and delivering enduring value through thoughtful, practical design.
